Saddle Seeks Horse, the equestrian blog of adult amateur Susan Friedland-Smith, is partnering with author Elizabeth Kaye McCall for a horse-themed book giveaway (just in time for Christmas!). The new blog post “Book Giveaway: RajaliKa Speak by Elizabeth Kaye McCall (and author interview!)” highlights the adventures McCall has lived while writing about horses and horse people.

One lucky entrant will receive two autographed copies (one to keep, one for a friend) of McCall’s latest work RajaliKa Speak, the illustrated children’s book based on the life of the author’s conversational Egyptian Arabian stallion. The giveaway will end Monday, December 22, 2014 at midnight Pacific Time.

A memorable dinner at Linda Tellington-Jones' Big Island home.  She likes the book too!

In the lobby of the beautiful Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on Hawaii's Kohala Coast (host hotel for Hawaii Horse Expo) ,I discovered the beautiful paintings of the late John Young, a Hawaiian artist know for his horses and seascapes.  According to a relative, John Young first became intrigued with carousel horses as a child. Changes in his depiction of horses evolved from the time he later spent with horses and observing them.

Nothing like horse paintings to say Aloha!  The Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel was landed Travel & Leisure's 2013 World's Best Beach, Hawaii  award.  There's a view from every room at the resort, but even better was experiencing it.

My pal Robin Hutton, author of the upcoming book SGT. RECKLESS (she wasn't a horse she was a Marine) which comes out July 27 is there on the left by this wonderful stand-up.. see how tall you are compared to Reckless photo op poster.  Robin and I had side-by-side tables at the Book Corral at Western States Horse Expo in Sacramento this past weekend.  Great fun. I was there with my new talking horse children's book RAJALIKA SPEAK.
